Interesting

I've asked a couple of people a question recently:

are tattoos acceptable to God?

The answers I've gotten have been very interesting.

For me...tattoos are a cultural issue not a biblical one.

For others...well, I've had mixed feelings thrown at me.
Some find them beautiful while others think you'll have to give God an account for them...really?

What do you think?

Growing up in a legalistic environment I was taught they were wrong, period, however I have never seen it in the Bible. It is not listed with the works of the flesh or other moral sins. I have known people who don't have them and they think they are spiritual, yet their hearts are rotten...but then I know people who do have them, they are humble, and they are sold out for Christ. Which do you think makes God happier?

I think without it being clear, it would only be subjecting people to living by man's "rules" and "laws" to say it is wrong. I personally like the way God made me and do not want tattoos, but I have grown spiritually to the place where I do not condemn those who have them or even think they are wrong for it. My option against them is solely my personal preference!

so this is a cheezy question but i think nonetheless a necessary one when discussing issues of "should i do this, or should i do that." The question: can doing this act ultimately lead u into worshiping God?

note: this cannot be THE ultimate question that needs to be asked at all times to resolve an issue. For this particular one though, i think it is appropiate.

hence: the content and significance of the tat. If what you get can be an ultimate reminder of either god's grace, mercy, or love for u etc... how is this a bad thing? Health wise? Unless im a fit young lady, ive got nothing to talk about because well, i treat my body like crap honestly when i step back and observe what i put in it, it doesn't seem like i am treating my body as a holy temple in that respect honestly.

i try to answer this question posed above though... and usually the answer begins to get my juices flowing in leading me to think what i ultimately feel about a specific issue or 'thing.' So, ultimately, it is all relative. personally, im not againts them. they do hurt though, and are in your body for life - to some that's exciting, to other's thats scary. as long as u know what ur doing, you could pary about making such a choice, and going for it ;)

ps. i think its cultural and not biblical too. i could be wrong, but then again... we're all ganna die so it doesn't really matter what we think of it... right?! (just messin' with u ;)

Whatver u think of it, i love u!!!

You know, for the longest I have had that same question. Why? Because I would like one (and I know what and where I want it) but unfortunately I haven't done it because is "not right in the eyes of God". Yet I feel it has nothing to do with God but with your body. Even if this was truth, I don’t want to disobey God’s law.
One time I made this same question to a brother at CEE and I got this answer: Leviticus 19:28. I read it and it does say: Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the LORD.NLT Though one thing that catches my eye was that it says for the dead. Now, what does this mean? I don’t know. So now I’m all confuse. Though if you really want to know why I haven’t done it, is because I had this same conversation w/ my sister and she told me if I put a tattoo today this can be a bad influence for my niece, and I saw she was right. My niece looks up to me and I really won’t like it if my niece at 12 yrs old would be asking for a tattoo. That just wouldn’t be right. But hey, everybody have their own point of view.
